More About DDFD
I have more than 20 years of business experience. I have been an entrepreneur-- a defensive entrepreneur, for all of those years. I usually operated these businesses quietly and kept a low profile (The Art of Keeping a Low Profile)-- I still do to this day.
The businesses I started were usually set up for temporary purposes. Some were meant to be part-time only, but became temporary full time ventures for various reasons. I have set them up fast and on a shoe string-- one was set up in an afternoon in response to an opportunity that was presented to me.
I have had sole proprietorships, partnerships, and an S Corp. I currently have a C Corp and LLCs planned in the near future. I will be discussing the pros and cons of each of these forms in a future post.
My entrepreneurial endeavors have included:
- Consulting to small business
- Financial consulting
- Marketing consulting
- Training (seminars and workshops)
- Research services
- Home improvement contracting
- Investment research and analysis
- On-line business
- Business plans consulting and writing
I hold a MBA in finance and a MS in marketing. I graduated Beta Gamma Sigma-- the business student's equivalent to the Phi Beta Kappa honors society. I have also taught marketing and finance at both the graduate and undergraduate level. I am an avid reader and researcher.
Finally, my background includes:
- Finance and investments
- Marketing
- Strategic planning
- Research
- Sales management
- Publishing
- Writing
Hopefully, this post helps frame my background and point of view a little more for you. I will be describing my entrepreneurial ventures in much greater detail and will share my experiences in future posts on this site.
